Manatsa Retires from BAT

British American Tobacco Zimbabwe managing director Lovemore Manatsa will retire from the company next month. Manatsa will leave the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange-listed company at the end of next month after seven years at the helm but will remain a non-executive director of the board.

BAT Zimbabwe said in a statement Manatsa will be replaced by Mrs Clara Mlambo who will leave her post as managing director of BAT Zambia.

"The board of British American Tobacco Zimbabwe (Holdings) Limited wishes to announce that Lovemore T Manatsa, the company's managing director, will retire on January 31 2016," the company said.

"Lovemore will remain as a non-executive director of the board following his retirement as an employee of the company," the statement said.

Manatsa joined BAT Zimbabwe as advertising manager in 1995 following a 15-year-long career in the airline industry.

He has occupied various senior roles with the company and within the British American Tobacco Southern African Markets Cluster which include trade marketing and distribution director between 2000 and 2003; British American Tobacco Malawi marketing manager in 2003 and subsequently country manager, based in Blantyre.

In mid 2007 Mr Manatsa was appointed country manager for BAT Zambia and Malawi cluster based in Lusaka. He was appointed BAT Zimbabwe managing director in 2008.

Outgoing finance director Peter Doona, who resigned from his position at the beginning of this month has been replaced by Lucas Francisco.

Francisco has over nine years experience in various senior finance and internal audit roles within BAT southern African region.
