Reynolds American Donated $10.4 Million to Non-Profits in 2014

Reynolds American Inc. (NYSE: RAI) and its affiliates, related private charitable foundations and employees donated approximately $10.4
million to a wide range of non-profit organizations in 2014.
 
"It is very rewarding to see all the revitalization happening in our communities and to know that we helped play a role in these positive changes,” said Alan Caldwell, RAI Services Company’s director of corporate and civic engagement. "However, we must always be mindful of those around us who are less fortunate and who still need our help. The Reynolds American family of companies, their foundations and employees remain committed to helping transform our communities into better places to live and work."
 
The Reynolds American Foundation donated a total of $5.2 million in 2014, including employee matching grants. The Foundation’s largest contributions were to the United Way of Forsyth County, N.C., Wake Forest University and Reynolda House Museum of Art. In addition to the Foundation’s contributions, company employees contributed nearly $1.1 million of their own money to the United Way campaign.
 
On a corporate level, Reynolds American and its operating companies contributed a combined $3.5 million to non-profit organizations in 2014. Significant donations included more than $600,000 by RAI Services to youth tobacco prevention programs and $650,000 by Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company to Keep America Beautiful.
 
The American Snuff Charitable Trust, which is associated with RAI’s Memphis, Tenn.-based American Snuff Company subsidiary, contributed $483,000 to a variety of community-based non-profit organizations in 2014. The Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company Foundation contributed more than $130,000, with the largest contribution of $60,000 going to the American Indian College Fund. Enditem
