China: Shanghai Tobacco Steadily Carried out the New Tobacco Products Research and Development Work

Since 2014, in order to set up the new engineering center for tobacco products, the Shanghai Tobacco Monopoly Administration and Shanghai Tobacco Group, under the principle of "development of one generation, improve one generation, and design one generation", actively constructed "basic research and application technology research and product research" as the framework of product technology research and development system, promoted the new tobacco products R&D and manufacturing work.
 
Shanghai Tobacco Group formed a research team, including major research groups of no smoke tobacco products, electronic cigarette research, new cigarette research, and groups cover basic research, packaging form design research, flavors, consumers and policy laws and regulations, and set up independent office space of the project center, planed and constructed oral tobacco pilot production line, electronic cigarette testing rooms and other test sites, formed　atmosphere of technology innovation.
 
Around the key technology research, Shanghai Tobacco Group carried out 9 projects of science and technology, carried out 4 major projects of the state tobacco monopoly administration, and led two projects of industry standard. On the new type of cigarette products, Shanghai Tobacco Group self-developed and designed electric heating element, sensing control circuit core components, provided technical support for new cigarette subsequent products. On the electronic cigarette products, Shanghai Tobacco Group researched a new circuit control system, set up key index list and index definitions and detection system of electronic cigarette. On the oral tobacco products, Shanghai Tobacco Group revised a number of new tobacco chemical testing and preparation methods.

In the field of research and development of new type of tobacco products, in 2014, 24 pieces of authorization or public patent were published. In the field of oral cigarette product research and development, Shanghai Tobacco Group completed the designing and manufacturing plan of domestic first oral tobacco pilot line, set up the industry's first new tobacco product standards framework, put forward the requirements of oral cigarette product quality safety and hygiene,　and oral tobacco material security key indicators and the limited requirements. In the field of research and development of electronic cigarette products, Shanghai Tobacco Group finished design work of domestic first special electronic cigarette smoking machine. In the field of new type cigarette product research and development, Shanghai Tobacco Group successfully assembled prototype machines of new electric heating cigarette, developed a new cigarette flavor formula standard, initially formed new cigarette security authentication framework.
