China: Provincial Corporation, KT&G Sign Pact on Technological Cooperation

China Tobacco Guizhou Industrial Co., Ltd. in southwest China's Guizhou Province and Korea Tobacco and Ginseng Corporation (KT&G) has recently signed an agreement of intent on technological cooperation, which is a prelude to the provincial corporation's introduction of advanced foreign technology and promotion of its technological innovation to higher levels.

The agreement was signed during a visit by a KT&G delegation to Guizhou on November 24-25. The delegation was led by KT&G CEO Min Young-jin.

During the visit, Deputy Provincial Governor Liu Yuankun of Guizhou Province met and held talks with the delegation.

China Tobacco Guizhou Industrial Co., Ltd. started technological exchange and cooperation with KT&G in 2012. Over the past three years, the two sides have kept deepening bilateral mutual trust and mutual access, with remarkable achievements in technological cooperation, and with continued consolidation of successes in exchange.

In particular, in the development of a new type of cigarettes of the Guiyan brand family, known as Guiyan Guojiuxiang (National Liquor Aroma), China Tobacco Guizhou Industrial Co., Ltd. introduced the liquor-flavored capsule plug technology from KT&G, and innovatively developed and mastered the crucial liquor-flavored capsule filter rods production technology, which contributed to remarkably improving the quality of the Guojiuxiang cigarettes.

It was reported that the agreement signed this time is intended to introduce from KT&G the technology for comprehensive functional test of blend-type tobacco, cigarettes and plugs which is advanced in the world, and realize conversion and innovative application of the technology by the provincial corporation, in striving to consolidate the technological advantage of Guiyan.
