Research Institute, Provincial Company Sign Framework Pact on Strategic Cooperation

Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute in central China's Henan Province and China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province signed in Zhengzhou City on November 27 a framework agreement on strategic cooperation in research and development between the two sides.

On the occasion, the two sides also held a ceremony to unveil the nameplate of a joint research and development center, with the presence of the director of the Department of Science and Technology of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA), the president and Communist Party Committee secretary of Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute, and the Communist Party leadership group secretary and general manager of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd.

At the ceremony, Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute introduced the situation of ongoing fulfillment of the relevant work and the work of scientific and technological research in seven aspects, the general situation of its cooperation with China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd., and put forward a four-point proposal for bilateral cooperation and development of the joint research and development center.

Firstly, there should be sufficient understanding of the general situation in the wake of the "two unifications and two integrations" launched by China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd., and the demand for science and technology thereafter.

"Two unifications" refer to unification of management by China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. over the businesses of marketing on the part of its affiliated Hongta Group and HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group and unification of new products research and development by the two groups. Meanwhile, "two integrations" refer to integration of the existing cigarette brands and integration of the existing enterprises engaged in business diversification under Hongta Group and HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group. The "two unifications and two integrations" both are intended to further optimize the distribution of resources in the interest of realizing sustainable, healthy and steady development of the tobacco manufacturing enterprises in Yunnan.

Secondly, the comprehensive scientific and technology research advantages and technological advantages of Zhengzhou Tobacco Research Institute should be brought into full play, and the two sides need to jointly put forward research subjects and conduct research on the basis of projects.
Thirdly, steps should be taken to earnestly study the strategy of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. for brands development, and get pertinent high-level achievements.

And fourthly, the two sides should strive to strengthen bilateral scientific and technological human resources exchange.

At the same time, China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. introduced its brands development strategy and the situation of its economic operation, pointing out that in the current integration of brands and other resources launched by China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd., the advantages of scientific and technological research institutes and enterprises should be particularly brought into play, in order to realize association between powerful players.

It expressed requirement for and expectation about development of the joint research and development center.

At the ceremony, China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. also introduced schemes for global research and development distribution by the technology center of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. and establishment of its branch institutions in China. Enditem
