<strong>China: Occupational Skills Contests Sponsored by Provincial Tobacco Industry End</strong>

A set of two serial occupational skills contests sponsored by the tobacco industry of southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province successfully came to an end in the provincial capital city of Kunming on July 24, with the emergence of a number of technical experts.

The three-day two serial occupational skills contests – the 13th China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. Occupational Skills Contest and the 6th Tobacco Machinery Equipment Repair Occupational Skills Contest – were in preparation for participation in the 11th Round of Workers Technical Skills Contest of Yunnan Province that started in July and that will end in April 2015.

Attending the closing ceremony of the two serial occupational skills were Lian Fei, vice-president of the Workers Further Education Institute of China National Tobacco Corporation and executive deputy director of the Occupational Skills Appraisal and Guidance Center of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA); Wen Ningjun, inspector, Communist Party discipline inspection group chief and appraisal station director of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd.; Cheng Yongzhao, deputy inspector of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd.; Wu Yi, HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group Co., Ltd. CEO and Communist Party Committee secretary; Dai Wei, HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group Co., Ltd. deputy CEO, Communist Party Committee deputy secretary and Communist Party Discipline Inspection Committee secretary; and Cao Hang, Hongta Tobacco Group Trade Union chairman.

In an address delivered at the closing ceremony, Wen Ningjun pointed out that tobacco machinery equipment repairmen are among the most cutting edge and most important human resources of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd., and are a principal force for conducting technological innovation and making breakthrough in technology.

"We need to attach greater importance to sticking to the development of highly skilled human resources in future, continue vigorously launching various forms of technical skills contests and technical skills training, and prompt all workers and staff members to base themselves on their positions, love their jobs, become dedicated to their career and promote their technical skills to higher levels," Wen said.

Wen also urged the participants in the serial contests to continue working hard to practice their skills, make perfection more perfect, genuinely become highly skilled workers and elites for tobacco machinery repair at China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd., play key leading roles in technology and skills, and effectively lead their colleagues to make common progress.

In the serial contests, the first and second places for the PROTOS70 (ZJ17) model, the PASSIM7K model, the GDX model, the GDX2 model and the FOCKE350 model were respectively won by nine contestants including Su Zhi, Lu Zhong, Lei Yunbo, Sun Lin and Zhang Yi.

According to a decision of the organizing committee of the serial contests, Su Zhi, Lei Yunbo and Zhang Yi -- the three first place winners for the PROTOS70 (ZJ17) model, the GDX1 model and the FOCKE350 model in terms of the comprehensive score -- have been reported to the STMA for granting the title of honor as national-level tobacco industry technical skills experts. After public announcement, the nine winners in the serial contests were granted the title of honor as technical skills experts with China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd., and have all been included into the database of highly skilled human resources of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd.
