China: New Drum-Pneumatic Cut Tobacco Curing Equipment Completes Test Run

A new set of Drum-Pneumatic Cut Tobacco Curing Equipment developed under the auspices of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) successfully completed a commissioning test run at Chuxiong Cigarette Factory of Hongta Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province on July 16.

The Drum-Pneumatic Cut Tobacco Curing Equipment has been developed under the project of the Drum-Pneumatic Cut Tobacco Curing Technology Research and Equipment Research and Development, which is a priority scientific and technological research project of the STMA.

The project has been jointly executed by China Tobacco Machinery Technology Center Co., Ltd., Qinhuangdao Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. in north China's Hebei Province and Hongta Tobacco Group Co., Ltd.

In its execution of the project, Hongta Tobacco Group has designated the leaf tobacco cutting workshop of Chuxiong Cigarette Factory to conduct technological transformation and equipment test run involved in the execution of the project.

Drawing on the advantages of the traditional drum-pneumatic cut tobacco curing technology, the Drum-Pneumatic Cut Tobacco Curing Equipment has a cut tobacco curing capacity of 3,000 kilograms/per hour, with maintenance of the original aroma of leaf tobacco and effective increase of the fill value of cut tobacco.

In making concerted efforts to execute the project, China Tobacco Machinery Technology Center Co., Ltd., Qinhuangdao Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd., the technology center and the equipment and technology department of Hongta Tobacco Group Co., Ltd. and several departments of Chuxiong Cigarette Factory repeatedly conducted on-site demonstration and research at the leaf tobacco cutting workshop of Chuxiong Cigarette Factory, before eventually determining the technological process of the project and the specific location for placing the equipment.

In December 2013, the Drum-Pneumatic Cut Tobacco Curing Equipment was transported to Chuxiong Cigarette Factory. Under the premise of not negatively impacting the fulfillment of production quotas, the parties involved took advantage of all idling periods to promptly and actively organize execution of the project. In April 2014, the Drum-Pneumatic Cut Tobacco Curing Equipment was installed at the designated location. On July 12, 2014, the installation and debugging of the equipment were completed. On July 16, 2014, the equipment successfully underwent a commissioning test run.

The successful commissioning test run of the Drum-Pneumatic Cut Tobacco Curing Equipment signifies that the leaf tobacco cutting equipment and support facilities of Chuxiong Cigarette Factory have reached the requirement for scientific and technological research and experiment, that a solid foundation has been laid for ensuring smooth operation of scientific and technological research and experiment over a next period of time, and that a guarantee has been provided for further improving the quality of cut tobacco and the sensory quality of cigarette products.
