<strong>China: STMA Chief, Deputy Provincial Governor Inspect Qujing Cigarette Factory</strong>

Director-General Ling Chengxing of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) and Deputy Governor Ding Shaoxiang of southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province jointly led a delegation to inspect Qujing Cigarette Factory of HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in Yunnan -- the largest Chinese tobacco manufacturer -- on June 6.

During the inspection, both leaders expressed new expectations on and requirements for the production of leaf tobacco and cigarettes in Qujing City and future development of Qujing Cigarette Factory.

Accompanying the delegation on the inspection were Chinese Communist Party Qujing City Committee Secretary Gao Jingsong, China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. Communist Party group Secretary and General Manager Zhu Shaoming and Board of Directors Chairman Ye Libin, Yunnan Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration (Tobacco Company) Director and General Manager Yu Yundong, HongyunHonghe CEO and Communist Party Committee Secretary Wu Yi, et al.

The delegation respectively visited the new joint leaf tobacco cutting workshop and the new cigarette rolling and packing line at Qujing Cigarette Factory, hearing reports given by Qujing Cigarette Factory on overall development planning, technological transformation, production management, informatization, business development guidelines, etc, asking in detail about the relevant work of Qujing Cigarette Factory, holding cordial talks with officials and workers on site, and giving instructions on future development of Qujing Cigarette Factory.

In ensuing talks held during the inspection, the delegation heard reports given by Qujing City Deputy Mayor Zhu Xingyou on the situation of production of leaf tobacco and cigarettes in Qujing City.

Ling believed that Qujing Cigarette Factory has reached high levels in terms of overall development planning, technological transformation design and integration between informatization and industrialization. He praised Qujing Cigarette Factory for making relatively great contribution to local economic development by paying over 10 billion yuan (over 1.6 billion U.S. dollars) in taxes annually.

The delegation also included relevant leading officials of the Department of Accounting, Leaf Tobacco Company and Economic Research Institute of the STMA, and relevant leaders of Yunnan Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration and Qujing City Tobacco Monopoly Administration (Tobacco Company).
