The two model collectives honored at the ceremony were Yuxi Cigarette Factory and Kunming Cigarette Factory while the five model individuals honored were Li Heng, Chen Zhengrong, Li Junhong, Zhao Qi and Li Xuemei. In a keynote address delivered at the ceremony, STMA Director-General Ling Chengxing expressed the hope that the model collectives and individuals will value their honor, carry forward their successes, keep up the good work, and join hands with the entire staff in striving to make new contributions to reform and development of the tobacco industry. Ling Chengxing pointed out that presently, reform and development of the tobacco industry is in a crucial period of time, in which the four major hard problems of "slowdown of the growth rate, increase of inventories held by both the manufacturing and commercial sectors of the tobacco industry, shrinking of the structural space and approaching of the turning point of demand" are faced by the tobacco industry, and in which the tobacco industry faces even harsher challenges in its development. Therefore, the entire tobacco industry shall take the ceremony as an opportunity to extensively publicize the meritorious deeds of the model workers, and greatly uphold the spirit of the model workers, according to the STMA chief.
