<strong>China: City Tobacco Company Holds Teleconference on Production Safety</strong>

Qujing City Tobacco Company in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province held a teleconference on production safety of the local tobacco industry on January 23, hearing a report on the spirit of a recent national-level teleconference on production safety, and making arrangements for the work of production safety in 2014.

Director and Manager Wu Lizhu of Qujing City Tobacco Company, which doubles as Qujing City Tobacco Monopoly Administration, delivered an important speech at the meeting. Wu is also secretary of the Communist Party Committee at the company.

The meeting was chaired by Wang Yi, deputy director of Qujing City Tobacco Company and member of the Communist Party Committee at the company.

Yao Jingdong, deputy manager and chief accountant of Qujing City Tobacco Company and member of the Communist Party Committee at the company, read out the Decision of Qujing City Tobacco Monopoly Administration in Yunnan Province on Honoring Model Units, Model Departments and Model Individuals in Production Safety in 2013.

Zhang Jiazheng, deputy manager of Qujing City Tobacco Company and member of the Communist Party Committee at the company, delivered a work report at the meeting.

Also attending the meeting were Zhang Zhengyan, Gao Huafeng and Liu Yongjun, deputy managers of Qujing City Tobacco Company and member of the Communist Party Committee at the company, Qin Qingkui, member of the Communist Party Committee at the company, Xia Kaibao, inspector of Qujing City Tobacco Company, Bao Chongwu, Pan Zhuhua and Mao Jianshu, assistant inspectors of the company, et al.

In his speech, Wu pointed out that the Communist Party Committee at Qujing City Tobacco Company attaches great importance to control over production safety in enterprises of the local tobacco industry, practically promotes the various work of control over production safety in enterprises, and strives to launch systemic innovation, management innovation and work innovation, initially realizing a shift from the traditional experience-based management model onto the model of scientific management in control over production safety in enterprises.

In particular, the appraisal for selecting Grade One enterprises in terms of standardization of production safety signifies that Qujing City Tobacco Company has realized essential control over production safety and has taken a substantial step toward first-rate control over production safety, Wu said.

Wu required the local tobacco industry in Qujing City to pay heightened attention to production safety, promote the level of control over production safety in an all-round way and strive to develop first-rate enterprises in terms of control over production safety, closely in accordance with the development target of "building outstanding tobacco production zones and creating first-rate enterprises", with standardization of production safety as a carrier.

Meanwhile, Zhang Jiazheng made arrangements for the work of production safety in 2014, saying that the local tobacco industry needs to persistently adhere to the policy of "putting safety first, giving first place to prevention and making comprehensive control", deepen the responsibility of entities for production safety, continue promoting standardization of production safety, practically strengthen efforts for screening against hidden dangers, strengthen the building of the capacity of regulation over production safety and steadily promote sustained and safe development of the company, with deepening of development of informatization for production safety as a driving force, and with prevention of fire accidents, personal injury and major traffic accidents as priorities.

During the meeting, the participants heard the main points of a speech delivered by Deputy Director-General Li Keming of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration at a recent national-level teleconference on production safety. Meanwhile, Wu signed agreements on responsibility for production safety with the managers of the tobacco subcompanies in Qujing City and the leaders of the various departments of Qujing City Tobacco Company for production safety.
