<strong>China: HongyunHonghe Extends Donations for Teaching, Study</strong>

A ceremony was held in the Bureau of Education of Huize County of southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province on September 13 to mark extension by HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group of donations for teaching and academic study by poverty-stricken teachers and students in Huize County, in fulfillment of a one-on-one poverty alleviation project in the county.

The ceremony was attended by Huize County Deputy Magistrate Li Hongxia, Huize Cigarette Factory Deputy Inspector Lin Dan, and relevant leaders from the Bureau of Education and Office for Poverty Alleviation of Huize County.

Addressing the ceremony, Li Hongxia affirmed the great achievements made by HongyunHonghe in conducting the work of poverty alleviation in a sustainable way, expressed cordial thanks to HongyunHonghe for the extension of donations, and raised hopes to the students receiving donations and the outstanding teachers honored at the ceremony.

Speaking on the same occasion, Lin Dan introduced the results of the work of HongyunHonghe in poverty alleviation over recent years, and pledged that HongyunHonghe will continue to assume its social responsibility and strengthen cooperation with the designated regions in poverty alleviation in fulfillment of one-on-one support projects as it has always been doing, in efforts to make due contributions to the socioeconomic development of the local region.

At the ceremony, the leaders present handed 100 outstanding local teachers a 1,000 yuan (160 U.S. dollar) reward each and 50 local students admitted by universities for academic studies leading to the bachelor's degree 6,000 yuan (960 U.S. dollars) in student aid each. Enditem
