<strong>China: China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Corp. (CTYIC) hold meeting on the general situation of energy conservation and emission reduction in the year 2013, summed up the situation since 2012 and arranged for work of next phase on energy conservation and emission reduction. Related leaders of CTYIC gave speeches on this topic. Since 2012, cigarette factories of CTYIC have made great efforts to build energy-saving and environmental friendly enterprises, and taken strong measures on management innovation and technical progress, and gained remarkable achievements. In 2012, Official statistics shows that the unit consumption of energy by the Yunan tobacco industry in generating every 10,000 yuan (1,587 U.S. dollars) of industrial growth stood at 10.53 kilograms of standard coal, down 10.45 percent year-on-year; that it every 10,000 yuan (1,587 U.S. dollars) of industrial production value stood at 9.09 kilograms of standard coal, down 9.86 percent year-on-year; that its unit carton consumption of energy was 14.44 kilograms of standard coal, down 1 percent year-on-year, lower than the average level of industry, 17.1 kilograms of standard coal ; that its unit emission of sulfur dioxide in generating every 10,000 yuan (1,587 U.S. dollars) of industrial growth in 2012 declined 3.41 percent year-on-year; and that its total emission of chemical oxygen demand in 2012 declined 17.85 percent year-on-year. The speeches emphasized that priority should be given to the work of energy conservation and emission reduction in each factory.
