Ceylon Tobacco to Continue to Produce and Supply Cigarettes to Sri Lanka Market Source from: LankaPage.com 09/22/2013 ![]() Sri Lanka's major cigarette producer, Ceylon Tobacco Company said following today's Supreme court's stay order that the company is not required to comply with the regulations brought by the Ministry of Health to have pictorial warnings on the cigarette packets. The CTC in a stock market disclosure said it will continue to produce and supply cigarettes to the market as usual without any changes to its current packs. The Supreme Court, hearing the appeal filed by the CTC seeking a stay order on an Appeal Court ruling that allowed the Health Ministry to implement the regulations, granted interim relief to CTC staying the operation of the Tobacco Product Labeling and Packing Regulation dated 8 August 2012. The stay order initially will be operative until 22nd January 2014, the CTC said. The Court of Appeals will hear the writ Application on 7th November. The Supreme Court will hear the appeal against the Court of Appeals on 7th May 2014. Enditem |
