<strong>China: Shanghai Tobacco Group Promotes Use of Degradable Packaging Materials</strong> Source from: TobaccoChina Online 08/06/2013 ![]() Shanghai Tobacco Group – a key Chinese tobacco manufacturer – has actively promoted the use of environment-friendly degradable materials for making the packaging of its cigarette products over recent years, in efforts to fight solid waste pollution and protect the environment. Recently, Shanghai Tobacco Group held a meeting on promoting the use of vacuum aluminum-plated inner liner for making packaging of cigarettes of its time-honored Chunghwa brand, summing up the work of promoting the use of environment-friendly degradable materials for making cigarette packaging over the previous period of time, and specifically setting the target of promoting full-scale use of vacuum aluminum-plated inner liner for making packaging of Chunghwa brand cigarettes. The meeting pointed out that in promoting the use of environment-friendly degradable materials for packaging making, sufficient tests would be conducted to ensure immediate success, and that specific plans therefor would be drawn and executed in stages.
