<strong>China: HongyunHonghe Holds Meeting on Production Safety</strong>

HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province – the largest Chinese tobacco manufacturer – held on July 3 a working meeting of its Production Safety Committee, reporting the situation of production safety in the first half of 2013, and urging all-round strengthening of production safety in future operation.

Attending the meeting were HongyunHonghe Board of Directors Chairman Yao Qingyan and Deputy CEO He Guogang, leaders in charge of production safety with all the production factories of HongyunHonghe and the members of the Production Safety Committee. The meeting was presided over by Production and Manufacturing Center Chief Inspector Zhang Tao.

At the meeting, the Production Safety Committee reported the results of assessment of production safety for the first half of 2013 conducted by China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd., and conveyed and organized studies of the spirits of a recent teleconference of Yunnan Province on mobilization and deployment for major inspection over production safety, and also the spirits of a series of official documents on production safety, including the Notice of the General Office of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration on Further Strengthening the Work of Production Safety in the Tobacco Industry of China in Implementation of the Spirits of the Relevant Official Documents Issued by the General Office of the State Council, and the Notice of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. on Printing and Distributing Schemes for In-Depth Launch of Major Inspection over Production Safety.

He Guogang emphasized that the work of production safety should be strengthened and well done in an all-round way, to practically strengthen supervision and control over production safety at all enterprises with investment from HongyunHonghe in business diversification, and to ensure safe operation of the hotels operated by HongyunHonghe with large crowds of people.

He required further strengthening of management over construction and operation by contractors, and inclusion of key parties concerned including contractors into the scope of routine management by HongyunHonghe. He also required all centers, departments, offices and production factories to earnestly well implement the spirits of the relevant official documents issued by authorities at higher levels and the relevant requirements for work operations, to take the centralized launch of the major inspection as the primary task for production safety control for the time being, and to unfold the work of major inspection in an in-depth way in accordance with the general requirement of "full-scale coverage, zero tolerance, strict enforcement of law and emphasis on real effects", in order to root out serious hidden dangers against production safety.

In a concluding speech delivered at the meeting, Yao Qingyan said that the development of HongyunHonghe will not do without protection by the work of production safety, that the work of production safety concerns the safety of life of the entire staff and the development of HongyunHonghe, and that under any circumstance, the system of one-vote veto should be adhered to in the work of production safety.

He expressed the hope that all centers, all departments, all offices and all production factories of HongyunHonghe will, in light of their realities, strengthen standard management of the work of production safety, in order to enable the work of production safety at HongyunHonghe to go onto a higher level, and in order to lay a solid foundation for sustained development of HongyunHonghe.
