<strong>China: Malawian President Visits Kunming Cigarette Factory</strong>

Malawian President Joyce Banda and her husband, retired Justice Richard Banda, recently paid a visit to Kunming Cigarette Factory of HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province, in anticipation of strengthening of cooperation between the tobacco industries of the two countries.

The presidential couple and their entourage were accompanied on the visit by Li Jiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Yunnan Provincial Committee and deputy governor of Yunnan Province.

HongyunHonghe Board of Directors Chairman Yao Qingyan, CEO Wu Yi, Board of Directors Secretary Luo Jianhua and Assistant to the CEO Wang Shaokun received the presidential couple and their entourage and held talks with them to exchange views. Relevant personnel from the Communist Party and administrative affairs offices and the overseas development department of HongyunHonghe and Kunming Cigarette Factory also attended the talks.

Yao Qingyan extended welcome to the presidential couple and their entourage on behalf of HongyunHonghe, and introduced to them the general situation of HongyunHonghe, expressing the hope that the two sides could make a use of the current opportunity to have sincere exchange of views and exploration leading to strengthening of cooperation between the tobacco industries of the two countries.

President Banda introduced the general situation of Malawi, saying that Malawi is an agricultural country in southern Africa, that tobacco is one of the cash crops of Malawi, and that Malawi will further strengthen construction in the field of tobacco, create a favorable investment environment and strengthen cooperation with the tobacco industry of Yunnan.

Speaking on the same occasion, Li Jiang introduced the situation of development of leaf tobacco and cigarette production in Yunnan, and expressed the hope that Yunnan will be able to launch in-depth cooperation with the Malawian government in development of the tobacco industry.

After the talks, Yao Qingyan offered a high-end product – Dachongjiu brand cigarettes – to President Banda, saying that HongyunHonghe offers its best product to her majesty to express the wish that the friendship between the two sides will last forever.

Visiting Kunming Cigarette Factory, the presidential couple and their entourage spoke highly of the advanced production equipment and first-rate technological processes at Kunming Cigarette Factory. Enditem
