China: Shanghai Tobacco Group Expands Cigarette Sales to 19 African Countries

Shanghai Tobacco Group has expanded its cigarette sales to a total of 13 taxable markets and nine duty-free markets in 19 countries in the African region, as a result of persistent efforts to vigorously develop international markets over recent years.

Over the past few years, Shanghai Tobacco Group has striven to turn its time-honored competitive Chunghwa cigarette brand into one of the most influential Chinese cigarette brands on international markets, and has attached great importance to developing markets in Africa.

On the basis of conducting market survey, analysis and planning in cooperation with local dealers over the past year, Shanghai Tobacco Group has succeeded in establishing relations of close cooperation with local duty-free sales channels in Africa.

Recently, Shanghai Tobacco Group successfully enabled Chunghwa to enter duty-free markets in Namibia, filling a gap in the sales of competitive cigarette brands of the tobacco group in Namibia. As a result, the cigarette brands of Shanghai Tobacco Group have covered 13 taxable markets and nine duty-free markets in 19 countries in the African region.

In a next period of time, Shanghai Tobacco Group will, taking advantage of the current favorable situation of economic development between China and Africa, continue to strengthen cooperate with overseas dealers.
