Sri Lanka Tobacco Firm in Highest Court over Labeling Rule

Ceylon Tobacco Company Plc, a unit of British American Tobacco said it had appealed to the island's highest court to halt a rule requiring explicit pictorial health warnings.

CTC said in a stock exchange filing that it was appealing to Sri Lanka's Supreme Court after the Court of Appeal declined to halt the labeling rule coming into effect on March 01.

CTC said it had made an application to the Supreme Court on February 22.

CTC stock fell 26 rupees to close at 771.0 rupees. Enditem
