China: Hongta Group Sees Cigarette Sales Income Reach Record High in Home Province

Hongta Group in southwest China’s tobacco-producing Yunnan Province – a leading Chinese tobacco manufacturer – earned a total of 70.304 billion yuan (11.2 billion U.S. dollars) in taxable income from cigarette sales in the home province of Yunnan in the January-November period of 2012, an increase of 14.64 percent over the level of 61.325 billion yuan (9.8 billion U.S. dollars) in the same period of 2011.

The development means that the 11-month amount of taxable cigarette sales income generated by Hongta Group has for the first time ever topped the level of 70 billion yuan (11.1 billion U.S. dollars) in history.

In 2012, Hongta Group has shown a trend of steady and coordinated growth in its economic operation, with its key cigarette brands including Yuxi registering progress amid stability, and with continued promotion of its shift from the “pattern of efficiency of scale” onto the “pattern of structural efficiency”.

In September 2012, Yunnan Provincial Enterprises Federation and Yunnan Provincial Entrepreneurs Association jointly promulgated the “2012 List of the Top 100 Enterprises in Yunnan”, in which Hongta Group was at the first place with its operating income of 77.26 billion yuan (12.3 billion U.S. dollars). For seven consecutive years, Hongta Group has taken the first place in the annual listing.  Enditem
