China: Research Project for Famous Cigarette Brand Passes STMA Appraisal

The project of research of the system of raw materials supply for the famous Yellow Crane Tower cigarette brand family of China Tobacco Hubei Industrial Co., Ltd. in central China’s Hubei Province has passed a stringent appraisal by a panel of experts designated by the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA).

Recently, the STMA held in Hubei’s provincial capital city of Wuhan a meeting to appraise the achievements made in the execution of the project of research of the system of raw materials supply for Yellow Crane Tower, which is a priority scientific-technological research project designated in 2008 by the STMA to China Tobacco Hubei Industrial Co., Ltd. for its execution.

The project is intended for the establishment of a raw materials supply guarantee and quality control system for the Yellow Crane Tower cigarette brand family, with satisfaction of the demand of China Tobacco Hubei Industrial Co., Ltd. for the supply of raw materials for the Yellow Crane Tower cigarette brand, which is in the category of light and luxe fragrance, as the start point and orientation of research.

Over the past four years, China Tobacco Hubei Industrial Co., Ltd. has relatively well accomplished the various research tasks in the project, has made remarkable achievements, has defined the orientation of the demand of the Yellow Crane Tower for the quality style of leaf tobacco, and has formed a system of distribution of multiple varieties of raw materials for the Yellow Crane Tower.

In the execution of the project, China Tobacco Hubei Industrial Co., Ltd. has established a system of technologies for leaf tobacco production at the Yellow Crane Tower exclusive high-quality leaf tobacco production and supply base, with “ecological growing and clean production” as the core; has formed a new model of leaf tobacco threshing by formulas consisting of five types of function modules; has issued industrial standards for assessing quality uniformity in leaf tobacco threshing; has established a package of environment-friendly mechanical regulation methods for leaf tobacco storage; has been granted four patents for invention and one patent for utility models; has disclosed nine patents; has published two SCI dissertations; and has published 22 dissertations through core periodicals.

At the meeting, the panel of experts checked the relevant documentation, heard working reports and technical reports on the project, conducted questioning and held sufficient discussions.

Eventually, the panel of experts unanimously agreed that the project is innovative in terms of clean production of leaf tobacco, leaf tobacco threshing by formulas through function modules, mechanical regulation, tobacco sheets maintenance, raw materials application technologies, etc; that the project plays a relatively powerful role in the development of the Yellow Crane Tower cigarette brand family; and that the research achievements in the project have generally met advanced domestic technical standards.

Successful application of research achievements in the project will contribute to promoting guarantee of raw materials supply for the Yellow Crane Tower cigarette brand family to higher levels, laying a solid foundation for guaranteeing the supply of raw materials for good and rapid development of the Yellow Crane Tower cigarette brand family, and promoting favorable development of both the economic and social efficiency of China Tobacco Hubei Industrial Co., Ltd..
