China: HongyunHonghe Honored As Model Enterprise in Poverty Alleviation Source from: HongyunHonghe Group 12/10/2012 ![]() HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province – the largest Chinese tobacco manufacturer – has once again won the title as a model enterprise in poverty alleviation for the year 2011 jointly issued recently by the Chinese Communist Party Yunnan Provincial Committee and the Yunnan Provincial Government for its great contribution to poverty alleviation.
Under unified arrangement by the Chinese Communist Party Yunnan Provincial Committee and the Yunnan Provincial Government, HongyunHonghe has been active in fulfilling its responsibility for society in the capacity of an enterprise, setting up a fine corporate image. Since 2007, HongyunHonghe has annually assumed the task of extending one-on-one support to Huize County and Qiajia County in poverty alleviation in the province, making practical deeds for the people of Yunnan and making due contributions to the local socioeconomic development in the province. As a result, HongyunHonghe has been honored as a model enterprise in poverty alleviation in Yunnan for consecutive years. According to planning for priority work of poverty alleviation, HongyunHonghe signs agreements with each of the two counties on poverty alleviation for a duration of three years each time. From 2007 to 2011, HongyunHonghe extended a total of 31.8 million yuan (5 million U.S. dollars) in funding for poverty alleviation in the two counties, which was used mainly for building projects of drinking water supply for both people and livestock and Project Hope schools, providing assistance for scholarship programs and teaching aid programs, establishing rooms for activities by Communist Party members, industrial development, development of new rural areas, etc in the execution of a series of projects for socioeconomic development and the development of education in poverty-stricken areas, greatly supporting both counties in enhancing their capacities of self-accumulation, self-development and sustainable development.
