China: Cigarette Materials Factory Completes Project of Relocation, Technological Transformation

Chuzhou Cigarette Materials Factory of China Tobacco Anhui Industrial Co., Ltd. in east China’s Anhui Province held a grand ceremony on November 28 to mark the basic completion of its project of relocation and technological transformation and also the start of a project of technological transformation of its leaf tobacco cutting line.

The ceremony means the entry into operation of the relocated and technologically transformed new Chuzhou Cigarette Materials Factory.

It was reported that the project of relocation and technological transformation of Chuzhou Cigarette Materials Factory covers a total area 230 mu (15.3 hectares) and involves a total investment of 250 million yuan (39.7 million U.S. dollars). The execution of the project has been divided into two stages.

The first stage is intended for “withdrawal from the urban areas and entry into park-style new site”. So far, the first stage has been completed, and the relocated and technologically transformed new Chuzhou Cigarette Materials Factory has started operation.

The second stage is intended for the construction of a new comprehensive logistics center. After completion of the second stage, the new Chuzhou Cigarette Materials Factory is expected to realize 400 million yuan (63.5 million U.S. dollars) in annual output value in the next five years, with the annual amount of taxes and profits to reach 40 million yuan (6.35 million U.S. dollars). By then, the new Chuzhou Cigarette Materials Factory will have ranked among the first-rate enterprises in China in terms of both equipment and technology, will have realized leap-forward promotion of the development capacity, and will have emerged as a major cigarette materials production and supply base in east China.

As part of the project of relocation and technological transformation of Chuzhou Cigarette Factory, the project of technological transformation of the leaf tobacco cutting line of the factory will also be executed in two stages.

In the first stage, the workshop building of the leaf tobacco cutting line will be expanded by 6,700 square meters, and domestically first-rate leaf tobacco cutting equipment and relevant support facilities will be introduced. With a total investment of 98.3 million yuan (15.6 million U.S. dollars), the first stage of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2014.

The second stage of the project will be carried out in a timely manner. In this stage, the relevant production equipment will undergo further renewal. After completion of the entire project, the new Chuzhou Cigarette Materials Factory will have reached advanced levels of the tobacco industry, in paving the way for building itself into a first-rate cigarette-making enterprise in China. By then, the new Chuzhou Cigarette Materials Factory will have become a major production base for Mount Huangshan brand cigarette products of the tobacco industry of Anhui.

At the ceremony, Communist Party group Secretary and General Manager Zhu Jianhua of China Tobacco Anhui Industrial Co., Ltd. and Communist Party Committee Secretary and Director Li Jinguang of Chuzhou Cigarette Factory respectively delivered speeches.  Enditem
