China: Qujing City Tobacco Company Wins Mayor''s Quality Prize

Qujing City Tobacco Company in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province was awarded a first ever Mayors' Quality Prize by the municipal government of Qujing at a grand ceremony held in Qujing City on October 31, to honor its adoption of outstanding business operation management models and promotion of advanced quality control measures in cigarette production.

At the ceremony, Mayor Yue Yaosheng of Qujing City People's Government issued trophies and money awards to the enterprises that have won the first ever Mayor's Quality Prize. The dignitaries attending the meeting also included Deputy Mayor Bi Wenquan of Qujing City, Secretary General Li Jianjun and Deputy Secretary General Yu Xuekun of the People's Government of Qujing City, and leaders of the People's Governments of all the counties (including county-level cities and urban districts) of Qujing City, the relevant departments directly affiliated to the People's Government of Qujing City and 50 key enterprises based in Qujing City.

At the ceremony, Director and General Manager Wu Lizhu of Qujing City Tobacco Company delivered an acceptance speech on behalf of all the prize-winning enterprises.

The Mayor's Quality Prize is the highest level quality prize of honor created by the municipal government of Qujing City. It is mainly intended to honor enterprises that have adopted outstanding performance model management and actively promoted advanced quality control methods, and that have taken the lead among the enterprises in the same sector in China in terms of the quality control level and the independent innovation capacity.

Through the review of data, on-site verification and public declaration in three rounds, Qujing City Tobacco Company emerged successful by winning the 2012 Mayor's Quality Prize of Qujing City with a highest score.

In 2010, Qujing City Tobacco Company, which doubles as Qujing City Tobacco Monopoly Administration, became the first among the city-level tobacco companies in the whole of the tobacco industry of Yunnan to introduce the outstanding performance model management system. As a result of unremitting efforts over the past three years, and on the basis of making preparation for projects, making schemes and plans, conducting publicity, implementation and training, making improvement and promotion, conducting self-evaluation, making sustainable improvement, creating rewards and making declaration in a total of seven stages, Qujing City Tobacco Company has succeeded in keeping upgrading the maturity of its management in a total of seven aspects including leadership, strategies, customers and marketing, resources, process management, measurement analysis improvement and results of operation, in striving to realize all-round promotion from ideology to the management system.

In future, Qujing City Tobacco Company will continue to take the "development of outstanding tobacco-producing zones and establishment of first-rate enterprises" as its development targets, promote application of the outstanding performance model evaluation norms, improve product quality and raise efficiency, and vigorously contribute to realizing the strategy of making the city prosperous through quality improvement, in making new contribution to promoting economic and social development of Qujing City.  Enditem
