China: High-level Delegation from Henan Province Visits HongyunHonghe

A high-level delegation from central China’s Henan Province, led by Secretary Li Mengshun of the Communist Party group at Henan Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration, visited HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China’s tobacco-producing Yunnan Province on October 12, seeing production facilities and holding talks with HongyunHonghe leaders on strengthening bilateral business cooperation.

The delegation also included Deputy General Manager Li Juncheng and Deputy Director Zhang Yabin of Henan Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration, which doubles as Henan Provincial Tobacco Corporation. Accompanying the delegation on the visit were General Manager Zhu Shaoming and Deputy General Manager Gao Xingzhi of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd.. Also accompanied by HongyunHonghe leaders Yao Qingyan, Wu Yi, Xu Liwei, Gu Hong and Dai Wei, CEO Assistant Wang Shaokun, and Kunming Cigarette Factory leaders Fan Xiao and Yang Xiaoping, the delegation paid a visit to Kunming Cigarette Factory and the Stone Forest Park of Yunyan Impression Tobacco Farmstead of HongyunHonghe. At the new site of Kunming Cigarette Factory, Li Mengshun and his entourage carefully examined the production processes of leaf tobacco cutting, cigarette making and packing, logistic supply, etc, and learned about the operation of equipment, production management, quality control, production capacity, etc in an in-depth way. After visiting Kunming Cigarette Factory, the delegation went straight to the Stone Forest Park of Yunyan Impression Tobacco Farmstead, seeing organic tobacco growing there and test-smoking Yunyan Impression brand cigarettes. At the essences and flavorings extraction laboratory, Li Mengshun carefully learned about the process of extracting flavorings from aromatic plants. At the aromatic plants park, the delegation showed great interest in the theory of “four-grade aromatization”, and fully affirmed the idea of Yunyan Impression Tobacco Farmstead to embark upon a different path of development by growing organic leaf tobacco. In talks between the two sides held afterwards, the delegation HongyunHonghe Board of Directors Chairman Yao Qingyan elaborately introduced the guideline on the construction of Yunyan Impression Tobacco Farmstead, the ongoing development of the farmstead and its future development planning. In the afternoon, the delegation participated in a symposium held at China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. Speaking at the symposium, HongyunHonghe CEO Wu Yi introduced to the delegation the scope of cigarette brands of HongyunHonghe, basic situation of tax payment and profit making by the tobacco group, its cigarette sales, and its planning for the development of competitive cigarette brands in the 2011-2015 five-year period. Wu Yi said that Henan is an important cigarette market area and leaf tobacco purchase base for HongyunHonghe, and that for many years, the two sides have maintained relations of friendly cooperation, and have developed profound friendship. He expressed the hope that the two sides will further strengthen communication and cooperation in terms of deepening bilateral cooperation, strengthening efforts for developing competitive brands, improving the structure of markets, upgrading the structure of brands, strengthening guarantee for the supply of raw materials for cigarette production, etc. Li Memgshun said that there exists favorable basis for common business development between the tobacco industry of Henan and China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd., and expressed the hope that the two sides will further strengthen communication and adopt more effective close cooperation, to realize a great leaf forward and rapid advancement in common business development.
