Malaysia: PM Restructures Malaysian Operations

Philip Morris Malaysia will cease local cigarette production and expand the Seremban plant into the world's largest cast leaf plant, The Star of Malaysia said on its website. High prevalence of illicit trade and rising costs of cigarette production prompted the shift, PM Malaysia Managing Director Tarkan Demirbas told the newspaper. Some 220 cigarette manufacturing jobs at Seremban will be lost in the restructuring, which will be accompanied by an investment of MYR 70 million (EUR 17.6 million) The Star reported. (pi) Enditem
