China: Hongta Group Participates In World Tobacco Asia 2012 Expo

Hongta Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province - a leading Chinese tobacco manufacturer - sent a delegation to participate in World Tobacco Asia 2012, which was a leading tobacco forum and expo for the Asia Pacific region, held in the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta on September 19-21.

It was the first time for Hongta Group to participate in a major international tobacco expo overseas. Hongta Group was the only Chinese tobacco manufacturer to participate in the gathering. The development therefore signified a new step taken by Hongta Group in "going global" as part of the tobacco industry of China. Sponsored by World Tobacco magazine, World Tobacco Asia is held twice a year. It was the fourth time for Indonesia to host a World Tobacco Asia expo. World Tobacco Asia 2012 was attended by nearly 150 enterprises from around the world, including the internationally well-known GD company of Italy, Hauni of Germany, International Tobacco Machinery B.V. of The Netherlands, Molins PLC of Britain and Universal Tobacco as well as Kunming Shipbuilding Equipment Co., Ltd., Changde Tobacco Machinery Co., Ltd. and other Chinese machinery manufacturing enterprises. The exhibition space of Hongta Group at the expo was at an eye-catching position at the entrance to the expo. Covering an area of 18 spare meters, the exhibition space of Hongta had the Chinese red as its keynote color, with a simple and fashionable style.

After taking pictures of the exhibition space of Hongta, two photographers with World Tobacco magazine said that Hongta Group was the only enterprise using ipad to introduce itself at the expo, which made it direct and simple to understand the enterprises and products of Hongta Group. Besides, it was unique for Hongta to adopt a stylistic look of the Chinese red lantern at the expo. With a view to demonstrating the image of its competitive cigarette brands, seek business opportunities, and more directly establish core links with dealers, Hongta Group put on show at the exhibition space more than 20 products destined for international markets of such big competitive brands as Yuxi (Realm), Yuxi (Harmony) and other members of the Yuxi brand series, the Hongtashan brand series, the Brass brand series, the GEM brand series, the Ashima brand series and the Gonghexinxi brand series, which were well received by visitors. These products caught the attention of cigarette making enterprises and distribution agents from Belarussia, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates and other countries and regions.

It was reported that Hongta Group has so far established production and marketing operations in Hong Kong, Laos and Romania. Annually, Hongta Group sells nearly 10 billion cigarettes (200,000 cases) overseas, accounting for 20 percent of its total cigarette sales each year, in implementation of the "going global" strategy of China's tobacco industry. Hongta's participation in World Tobacco Asia 2012 meant a major effective step taken by the tobacco group in realistically "going global" and converting itself into a transnational company from a domestic enterprise, more directly establishing links with dealers, establishing contacts with raw material suppliers, understanding developments and trends of the tobacco industry through the expo, and significantly enhancing the competitiveness of its cigarette products.
