China: Chuxiong Cigarette Factory Meets on Development of Science, Technology

Chuxiong Cigarette Factory of Hongta Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province held its 2012 annual general meeting on the development of science and technology on September 18, with the participation of more than 30 dignitaries including Deputy Directors Gao Zhonghua, Peng Liming and Zhang Zhiyong, members of the Science and Technology Committee of the factory and technological experts with the factory.

The meeting appraised a total of 10 scientific-technological research and development projects filed and completed in 2012. On the basis of the appraisal, one First Prize, three Second Prizes and six Third Prizes were issued at the meeting. The meeting appraised and demonstrated a total of 16 scientific-technological research and development projects filed and registered in 2012 by Chuxiong Cigarette Factory, including 14 passing demonstration for filing. At the meeting, Peng Liming put forward requirements for the work of scientific-technological research and development by Chuxiong Cigarette Factory over a next period of time. He required that the work of scientific-technological research and development be based on the ongoing project of technological transformation of the factory; that the work of scientific-technological research and development be intended to solve practical problems; that efforts be made to actively digest and assimilate applicable technologies, promote management to higher levels, and strengthen energy conservation, enterprise management, information technology development, promotion and application of support production technologies, etc; that scientific-technological research and development as well as solution of hard technological problems be launched; and that innovation and breakthrough be made in the research and development of crucial technologies.
