China: Hainan Hongta Cigarette Co., Ltd. Goes into Operation After Relocation

Hainan Hongta Cigarette Co., Ltd. in south China's Hainan Province – a subsidiary of Hongta Group – held a grand ceremony on August 26 to mark its entry into operation after completion of a project of relocation and technological transformation, which was intended to significantly enlarge its annual production capacity to 300,000 cases (15 billion cigarettes).

The dignitaries attending the ceremony and jointly pressing the button to start the entry into operation were Jiang Chengkang, director-general of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA), Luo Baoming, secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Hainan Provincial Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of Hainan Provincial People's Congress, Jiang Dingzhi, deputy secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Hainan Provincial Committee and Hainan Provincial Governor, Chen Ci, member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Hainan Provincial Committee and secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Haikou City Committee, Sun Xinyang, member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party Hainan Provincial Committee and secretary general of the Chinese Communist Party Hainan Provincial Committee, and Lin Fanglue, deputy governor of Hainan Province, with Luo Baoming declaring the official entry into operation of the company. The relocated Hainan Hongta Cigarette Co., Ltd. covers a total area of 406.1 mu (27 hectares). Intended for realization of standardized, fine and flexible production, the project of relocation and technological transformation of Hainan Hongta Cigarette Co., Ltd. was kicked off in March 2011. After busy construction for one and a half years, the project was fulfilled recently before the official entry into operation of the new Hainan Hongta Cigarette Co., Ltd. on August 26. The smooth entry into operation of the new Hainan Hongta Cigarette Co., Ltd. is a result of adoption by the STMA of major approaches to execute technological innovation and promote leap-forward development. It is also a landmark event of Hainan Hongta Cigarette Co., Ltd. in turning itself into an outstanding tobacco manufacturing enterprise and making itself more influential. The development will contribute to laying a solid foundation for building Hainan Hongta Cigarette Co., Ltd. into a modern tobacco manufacturing enterprise at a relatively high level. Commenting on the development of Hainan Hongta Cigarette Co., Ltd., Zhu Shaoming, Communist Party group secretary and general manager of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. pointed out that Hainan Hongta Cigarette Co., Ltd. needs to take the execution of the project of relocation and technological transformation as a fine opportunity to turn itself into an outstanding tobacco manufacturing enterprise with first-rate technology, first-rate management, first-rate products and first-rate efficiency. Also present at the ceremony were leaders and representatives from the General Office, the Development Planning Department, the Economic Operation Department and the leaf tobacco company of the STMA, China Tobacco Industry Development Center, China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd., Hongta Group, and Hainan Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Administration, as well as leaders of relevant departments of the Hainan Provincial Government, Haikou City Communist Party Committee and Haikou City government.
