Chuxiong Cigarette Factory completes certification of organic tobacco bases

Chuxiong Cigarette Factory - a subsidiary of Hongta Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province - successfully had two of its organic leaf tobacco growing bases certified by the Organic Food Development and Certification Center of China based in east China's Nanjing City, following on-site verification in accordance with stringent certification standards and requirements on August 11-13.

In conducting the on-site verification, certifying officers with the Organic Food Development and Certification Center of China went deep into the organic leaf tobacco growing bases to perform on-site inspection, conduct interviews on tobacco growers, and check records of organic leaf tobacco growing. Through careful inspection and verification, the certifying officers fully affirmed the work of organic leaf tobacco growing by Chuxiong Cigarette Factory, particularly the work of field management and preparation of documentation for certification. They proposed that the keeping of records of organic leaf tobacco growing at the bases be continuously extended to early spring mid-spring in 2013, to make the records more complete and to ensure continuity of the system of organic leaf tobacco production there.
