Imperial's Nantes Employees Riding High Source from: Tobacco Reporter 08/20/2012 ![]() Employees from Imperial Tobacco's Nantes factory collectively have won a corporate cycle-to-work challenge that was staged to mark national bike week in France.
The local authorities in the region organised the competition with prizes for companies that clocked up the highest number of cycled kilometres.
The objective was to promote greater use of bicycles and reduce car journeys by employees travelling to their place of work.
Imperial took part in the challenge for the first time this year along with 74 other companies and came top in its class with 938 km travelled and 206 kg of CO2 saved.
Engineers Pascal Robin and Christophe Gosson, who are responsible for the factory's sports association, accepted a certificate to mark the achievement.
"This event was an opportunity to remind our colleagues of the need to find alternatives to reduce our carbon footprint and demonstrate our commitment to environmental issues," said factory manager, Sebastian Depierre. Enditem
