China: Provincial Tobacco Industry Kicks off Vocational Skills Competition

The tobacco industry of southwest China’s Yunnan Province – the largest tobacco-producing region in China known as the kingdom of tobacco – kicked off the 10th Vocational Skills Competition of the Tobacco Industry of Yunnan, which doubles as the 5th Tobacco Machinery and Equipment Maintenance and Repair Vocational Skills Competition, at the headquarters of Hongta Group based in Yuxi City of Yunnan on August 8.

Attending the opening ceremony of the competitions were a large number of dignitaries with the tobacco industry of China including Lian Fei, executive deputy director of the Vocational Skills Appraisal and Guidance Center of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration (STMA) and deputy dean of Employees Further Education Institute of China National Tobacco Corporation, Li Xinjun, inspector, disciplinary inspection group chief and appraisal station chief of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. and director of the organizing committee of both competitions, Li Suiming, deputy general manager of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd., and CEO and Communist Party Committee Secretary of Hongta Group, and Xu Ze, deputy inspector and trade union chairman of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd.; quality supervisors and referees from the appraisal center of the STMA, relevant departments of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd., institutions directly affiliated to HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group and Hongta Group, and 11 provincial-level companies of the tobacco industry of China; and more than 60 contestants with HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group and Hongta Group.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Xu Ze, deputy inspector and trade union chairman of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd.

In an address delivered at the opening ceremony, Li Suiming, deputy general manager of China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd., and CEO and Communist Party Committee Secretary of Hongta Group, extended warm welcome to the leaders, supervisors, referees and contestants on behalf of Hongta Group.

Li Suiming said that the holding of the competitions is a major approach adopted by China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. to implement the planning of the tobacco industry of China for fostering highly qualified human resources, and that the tobacco industry of Yunnan wishes to arouse the enthusiasm, initiative and creativity of the entire workforce to compete in skills, make achievements and strive to be the first rate through vocational skills competitions, to improve the professional and technological quality and proficiency of workers and staff members, which will be playing a powerful role in accelerating and promoting the work of innovation and development of human resources on a full scale. In competitions over the next few days, Hongta Group will do all it can to provide warm, considerable and careful service for all contestants, to create a favorable working environment for all, and to ensure smooth holding of all events in the competition, he pledged.
