China: Hongta Group, City Tobacco Monopoly Administration Sends Delegation to Attend Field Appraisal

Hongta Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province – a leading Chinese tobacco manufacturer – and Yuxi City Tobacco Monopoly Administration jointly sent a delegation to attend a field appraisal and show of high-quality new tobacco varieties for 2012 held in Yuxi City on July 26, in which the two sides exchanged views on results of preliminary test of the new tobacco varieties.

The 20-member delegation included Deputy Director Wang Yi of the Technology Center of Hongta Group, Manager Wang Hongwei of Ershan County Tobacco Subcompany and Manager Wang Huahuo of Huaning County Tobacco Subcompany. The delegation went deep into Xiaojie Street in Ershan County and Lotus Pool in Huaning County to visit high-quality new tobacco varieties model production areas there, and conducted comparative discussions about field performance of the new tobacco varieties including NC71, PVH1452, Yunyan 110, K346 and K326. As a result, PVH1452 showed a balanced field growth trend, and best performances in resisting plant diseases and in agronomic traits. Afterwards, the delegation went straight to Dongjiashan in Huaning County to see samples of the first barn of leaf tobacco harvested in the current busy season.

Through field observation and discussions, the delegation members sufficiently exchanged views and opinions on field growth of the various tobacco varieties, and on the raw materials, technologies, products formulas, etc to be adopted in a next period of time, in sufficiently making preparations for enhancing the capacity of Hongta Group to guarantee the supply of high-quality raw materials for its cigarette production, to ensure realization of breakthrough in Hongta’s development of products of high-end brands, and to promote on a full scale smooth realization of the “5211” brands development target set by Hongta Group.
