Japan: Perforated Lid Pack Will Have No Film, No Foil

Japan Tobacco Inc. is due to launch in early September a new product called Seven Stars Menthol Snap Box, a 7 mg tar menthol cigarette contained in a pack with a lid designed for simple and smooth opening. Seven Stars Menthol Snap Box is said to have been inspired by the concepts, 'playful, cheerful and energetic'. 'These concepts were incorporated into the package, filter and design of this product which offers robust tobacco tastes,' JT said in a note posted on its website. The pack, which will not use wrapping film on the outside or aluminium foil on the inside, has a perforated lid that is accessed by peeling back a tongue. 'The design evokes the feel of hard metal, and the novel design sports a bold star, the symbol of the Seven Stars brand,' said JT. 'Moreover, the star symbol is engraved into the base of the filters reminding our desire for consumers to enjoy each and every cigarette.' The new product will go on sale in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama and Chiba.Enditem
