China: Provincial Leader Inspects Chuxiong Cigarette Factory

Deputy Secretary Qiu He of the Communist Party Committee of southwest China’s tobacco-producing Yunnan Province inspected Chuxiong Cigarette Factory of Hongta Group in the province on July 13, hearing reports on technological transformation and business operation by the cigarette factory, and visiting production facilities there.

At the lobby of the office building in the new site of Chuxiong Cigarette Factory, leaders of the relevant departments of Chuxiong Prefecture reported to Qiu He the strategic development planning of Chuxiong Prefecture and the immediate construction planning of the prefecture in the 2011-2015 five-year period. Afterwards, Qiu He and his entourage heard reports given by leaders of Chuxiong Cigarette Factory on the execution of its project of relocation and technological transformation. After hearing the reports, Qiu He went to the cigarette making and packing workshop of Chuxiong Cigarette Factory to inspect cigarette production there. At the workshop, Chuxiong Cigarette Factory Communist Party Committee Secretary Wang Minhui reported to Qiu He the situation of production and marketing by the factory in the first half of the year and the relocation of the cigarette factory, particularly production of cigarettes of such big competitive brands as Yuxi, Hongtashan and Hongmei.
