Africa: Imperial Supporting Ivory Coast Community Projects Source from: Tobacco Reporter 07/11/2012 ![]() Imperial Tobacco’s business in the Ivory Coast, SITAB, is providing about £50,000 to support community health and education projects.
In a note posted on its website, Imperial said that SITAB had presented cheques for the 2012 community development program to representatives of the five charities involved. The recipients had included Cause Humanitaire, with which SITAB had built a nine year partnership in the fight against malaria.
'The other beneficiaries were CIRBA, which has worked with SITAB on AIDS prevention programmes since 2006, as well as Rentrée Du Coeur, AMEX and PEFAC, which are all involved in adult education programmes,' the note said.
Meanwhile, Dr Ken Tandon, Imperial’s group medical adviser, said that the company’s continuing community development spend was helping to address the needs of vulnerable communities.
"It underlines the focus and commitment that the company has to supporting those communities where our people live and work," he said. Enditem
