Imperial Award for Tackling Illicit Trade

Imperial Tobacco's business operation in the Southern Balkans has won a government award in recognition of its efforts to tackle illicit trade, according to a news piece posted on the company's website. Imperial Tobacco TKS received the award from the Customs Directorate in Macedonia to mark 20 years of successful anti-illicit trade co-operation with the authorities. The award was accepted by Richard Parratt, general manager Southern Balkans, from Zoran Stavreski, deputy prime minister and minister of finance, and Vancho Kargov, director general of custom administration, at a ceremony in the capital, Skopje. "It's important to maintain and wherever possible extend our co-operation with customs authorities to tackle the growing scourge of illegal products," said Parratt. In neighbouring Kosovo, Imperial has signed with the Customs Directorate a new memorandum of understanding that renews the company's commitment to tackling illicit trade. Imperial said also that it had strengthened its presence in Kosovo with the opening of a new representative office in Pristina. Enditem
