JT's Market Share at 59.3 Per Cent Source from: Tobacco Reporter 06/19/2012 ![]() Japan Tobacco Inc's domestic sales volume during May, at 10.2 billion, was up by 41.2 per cent on that of May 2011, which, at 7.2 billion, was down by 38.2 per cent on that of May 2010.
The volatility in the company's sales was caused in part by the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March last year.
April-May volume, at 19.5 billion, was up by 105.4 per cent on that of April-May 2011, which, at 9.5 billion, was down by 60 per cent on that of April-May 2010.
Net domestic cigarette sales (revenue) during May, at ¥56.1 billion, were up by 43.6 per cent on those of May 2011, which, at ¥39.1 billion, were down by 17.4 per cent on those of May 2010.
Sales during April-May, at ¥107.3 billion, were up by 108.9 per cent on those of April-May 2011, which, at ¥51.4 billion, was down by 46.4 per cent on those of April-May 2010.
JT's market share was 59.3 per cent during April-May and 54.9 per cent during the full year to the end of March.Enditem
