Excise Reporting a Taxing Business

Imperial Tobacco is sponsoring a press awards scheme in Ukraine to support 'open and honest reporting of tobacco-related issues'. The National Journalist Awards recognises Ukrainian reporters who are said to have achieved excellence in business journalism. Eugene Walsh, general manager Ukraine, recently presented trophies and certificates to the winners at an event in Kiev. The winners were chosen by an independent jury. Imperial Tobacco Ukraine established a special prize for coverage of excise duty in the business media, an award that went to Anastasia Araslanova for a series of articles in the Economic News publication. "Accurate and unbiased coverage of excise issues and the impact of excise on our business is not always easy to achieve," said Walsh. "The frequent changes in rates and legislation and the potential for unintended consequences require the skills of a highly talented, methodical and analytical journalist. "We recognised all these qualities in the way Anastasia writes and I was delighted to be able to recognise her achievement at this prestigious event."Enditem
