Zimbabwe: Savanna Donate to Supporters

The Dynamos Supporters Association last night received US$10 000 from Savanna Tobacco, through their Pacific brand, raised through the 'Zorai Butter nePacific fundraising' activities. DeMbare fans and Savanna Tobacco entered into partnership to raise funds that will help the club's fans and its former players. The initiative, which started at the beginning of May, has seen supporters being taken to and from the stadiums in free bus rides during the home and away matches of Dynamos. Everything is being catered for by Savanna Tobacco. The 'Zorai Butter nePacific' show started with the DeMbare game against Black Mambas, which the Glamour Boys won 4-1. Since then, the show has grown from strength-to-strength and last night the city centre was rocking from the sound of vuvuzelas donated by Savanna Tobacco at yesterday's function. Adam Molai, the executive chairman of Savanna Tobacco, said they were happy to be associated with this initiative which enable supporters to be self sufficient. "I am humbled by the direction taken by the supporters in utilising the proceeds of our first show. "They advised me that part of the proceeds are going towards assisting former Dynamos greats who, like supporters before Zorai Butter, have been neglected by the football fraternity. "Your role as supporters will now touch lives and all football lovers in the world will learn from a great deal from Zorai Butter supporters," said Molai. Dynamos' Supporters Association president, Phil Bonde, hailed Savanna Tobacco for their support. "We are happy because our sponsor, Savanna Tobacco, has lived up to the promises they gave us from the time we started this partnership. "Through their support many people are beginning to attend our soccer matches which helps the team to win," said Bonde. Savanna Tobacco is also expected to take the Zorai Butter show to Bulawayo where the same initiative will benefit Highlanders' fans. Music promoters, Josh Hozheri and Partson Chimbodza, graced the occasion. The duo have been organising the musical fund-raising show, bankrolled by Savanna Tobacco, to help the fan.Enditem
