PMI Warns of Possible Job Losses

May 25, 2012-Philip Morris International is urging local politicians in Bergen op Zoom, the Netherlands, to lobby against a planned rise in tobacco taxes, according to a DutchNews.nl story quoting an EenVandaag television report. PMI, which has a staff of 1,400 at its Bergen op Zoom factory, apparently warned in a letter to councillors that the planned duty hike plus the accompanying value-added tax increase might have serious consequences for jobs at the plant.
