Hongta Chief Honored as National-level Outstanding Entrepreneur

Hongta Group Board of Directors Chairman Liu Wandong was among the 116 corporate leaders granted the title of honor as national-level outstanding entrepreneurs at the 2012 China Entrepreneurs Annual Meeting, which is also known as the Two Rivers Forum, held in southwest China's Chongqing City on May 11. At the meeting, the more than 600 participating entrepreneurs held discussions on sustainable development, China-Europe trade and other hot topics. Liu Wandong is the only corporate leader with the tobacco industry to receive the honor at the meeting. It was reported that the procedure for the biennial selection of national-level outstanding entrepreneurs is very strict. Sponsored by China Enterprise Confederation, China Enterprise Directors Association and China Enterprise Management Science Foundation, the selection enjoys relatively high reputation and authoritativeness in the Chinese business circles. Over recent years, Liu Wandong has led the management and the entire workforce of Hongta Group to strive for greater business success. As a result, Hongta Group has set the "5211" brands development target, has seen the scope of its competitive cigarette brands steadily enlarged, has realized continued improvement of the structure of brands and continued increase of the value of brands, has achieved new breakthrough in the development and production of high-end cigarette products, has succeeded in developing and producing Yuxi (Manor) as the first organic cigarette product of China's tobacco industry, has realized continued growth of economic efficiency, and has maintained sustained, rapid and healthy business development. In 2011, Hongta Group produced and sold more than 50 billion Yuxi brand cigarettes (more than 1 million cases), and more than 150 billion Mount Hongtashan brand cigarettes (more than 3 million cases), both reaching record highs. In the year, Hongta Group won the 132nd place among the Top 500 Chinese enterprises, and was on top of the list of the Top 100 enterprises in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province. As the first large-sized State-run enterprise in Yunnan with the annual amount of business income exceeding 60 billion yuan (9.53 billion U.S. dollars), Hongta Group makes great contributions to socioeconomic development in Yunnan, practically promoting cigarette development and production in China to higher levels, and enhancing the comprehensive capacity of the tobacco industry of China.
