Altria Leaps Up Corporate Responsibility List

When Corporate Responsibility Magazine announced its 2012 '100 Best Corporate Citizens List' last week, the Altria Group had moved up 20 places from its position last year to number 15. 'This list is based on publicly-available information and recognized by PR Week as one of America's top three most important business rankings,' Altria said in a note published on its website. 'The "100 Best Corporate Citizens List" evaluates the largest publicly-traded companies in the United States - based on the Russell 1000® - on their performance in environmental management, climate change, employee relations, human rights, governance, finance and philanthropy. Altria is the only tobacco company on the list.' Jennifer Hunter, senior vice president of corporate affairs, Altria Client Services said responsibility was core to Altria's mission. "This external recognition is a testament to our employees' progress against our mission and it helps us understand how we are doing in addressing issues critical to our business and our stakeholders," she said.
