HongyunHonghe Passes Benchmarking of Projects for Technical Acceptance

HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province - the largest Chinese tobacco manufacturer - held a meeting on April 13 on concentrated benchmarking of its five technological research and development projects for technical acceptance, with all the five projects smoothly passing stringent benchmarking.

In conducting benchmarking of the projects, the appraisal panel responsible for the benchmarking carried out earnest and serious appraisal and review, before drawing a conclusion that the taskforces designated to execute the projects have basically accomplished the research and development tasks prescribed by the contracts for the projects, and that the projects generally meet the technical and economic assessment targets. On the basis of its findings, the appraisal panel agreed to approve the five projects for technical acceptance. The five projects - registered by HongyunHonghe Tobacco Group for research and development in the year 2011 - are respectively the project of Reduction of Costs of Packaging of Grade-Two Cigarettes of HongyunHonghe, the project of Reduction of Costs of Consumption in Making Cigarette Packets, the project of Reduction of Costs of Developing Leaf Tobacco Formulas for Making Grade-Five Cigarettes of HongyunHonghe, the project of Research for Improvement of Cigarette Paper of Grade-Five Cigarette Brands and the project of Reduction of Costs of Flavors and Fragrances of Grade-Five Cigarettes of HongyunHonghe. Execution of the projects over the past year has generated remarkable results. Also in the year, HongyunHonghe realized certain improvement of 31 indexes year-on-year, with 29 of the indexes outdoing the corresponding indexes promulgated by the STMA on the average growth rate of China's tobacco industry.
