JT's Domestic Share at 60 Per Cent in March

Japan Tobacco Inc's domestic cigarette sales volume during March, at 10.0 billion, was down by 3.0 per cent on that of March 2011, 10.4 billion, which itself was down by 19.7 per cent on that of March 2010, according to preliminary figures issued by the company. For the year, April 2011-March 2012, volume, at 108.4 billion, was down by 19.5 per cent on that of April 2010-March 2011, 134.6 billion, which was down by 11.3 per cent on that of the previous 12 months. JT's market share stood at 60 per cent during March, at 54.9 per cent for the year to the end of March, and 64.1 per cent for the year to the end of March 2011. The value of the company's cigarette sales during March, at ¥55.6 billion, was down by 3.4 per cent on that of March 2011, ¥57.5 billion, which was increased by 9.6 per cent on that of March 2010. For the year April 2011-March 2012, the value of cigarette sales, at ¥596.5 billion, was down by 3.3 per cent on that of April 2010-March 2011, which was up by 0.2 per cent on that of the previous year.
