Cigarette Factory Kicks Off New Phase of Execution of Transformation Project

Dali Cigarette Factory of Hongta Group in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province - a leading Chinese tobacco manufacturer - held a brief ceremony to start relocation of its cigarette making equipment to a newly built workshop on March 23, kicking off the second phase of the execution of its ongoing project of technological transformation within the factory. The project of technological transformation of Dali Cigarette Factory is not only a priority project for Dali Prefecture in the 2011-2015 five-year period, but also a priority project of industrial development for the whole of Yunnan Province in the 2011-2015 five-year period. Major aspects of the project of technological transformation include the construction of a new leaf tobacco cutting and cigarette rolling, joining and packing workshop, a new power center, a new logistic service building, etc, to the tune of 89,320 square meters; installation of a new leaf tobacco cutting line with a comprehensive production capacity of 8,000 kilograms per hour; establishment of new systems of production direction, information-based management, logistic service for production, etc; procurement and installation of new boilers, water supply and drainage systems, vacuum systems, power distribution systems, air-conditioning systems, fire control systems, alarm systems, etc. The project covers a total area of 285 mu (19 hectares), with a total investment of 1.5 billion yuan (238 million U.S. dollars). The project will be executed in two phases. When the project of technological transformation is completed, the new Dali Cigarette Factory will have an annual production capacity of 500,000 cases (15 billion cigarettes). Enditem
