China: Hubei Provincial Corporation Inaugurates New Aromatic Plants Production Park

Hubei Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation in central China's Hubei Province held a grand ceremony on February 9 to unveil the plaque of its newly established aromatic plants production park, known as the Cinnamon Park, with the presence of senior government officials including Executive Deputy Governor Wang Xiaodong of Hubei Province, and Deputy Director-General Yang Peisen of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration. In 2011, the tobacco industry of Hubei realized a net growth of 5 billion yuan (793 million U.S. dollars) in annual manufacturing and commercial taxes. Besides, the wholesale volume of cigarettes of the famous Yellow Crane Tower brand topped 1 million cases (50 billion cigarettes) while the Qingjiangyuan leaf tobacco brand realized quality improvement and income growth. In efforts to promote technological progress, Hubei Provincial China Tobacco Industry Corporation established the Cinnamon Park, with a view to further strengthening its leading advantage in the research and development of natural aromatics for cigarette production. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Yang Peisen said that the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration will strengthen support for the tobacco industry of Hubei, and will adopt powerful measures and work with local governments in jointly promoting development of the tobacco industry.
