China: Hebei Provincial Tobacco Industry Realizes Sharp Growth in Taxes, Profits

The tobacco industry of north China's Hebei Province continued to maintain a favorable trend of development with relatively sharp growth in economic efficiency in 2011, generating 9.26 billion yuan (1.46 billion U.S. dollars) in taxes and profits, up 22.1 percent year-on-year, with the amount of profits alone reaching 1.57 billion yuan (248 million U.S. dollars), up 28.1 percent year-on-year.
