China: Liuzhou Cigarette Factory Installs Cut Tobacco Expansion Line to Ease Supply Shortage

Liuzhou Cigarette Factory of China Tobacco Guangxi Industrial Corporation in southwest China's Guangxi Region is busy debugging and testing a cut tobacco expansion line installed at the factory by itself, in efforts to ease shortage of supply of expanded cut tobacco for its cigarette production. On November 21, a first case of expanded cut tobacco test-made by the cut tobacco expansion line for producing Double Happiness brand cigarettes was put onto the cigarette production line, meaning that the cut tobacco expansion line had formally entered the process of test production. The process of test production was to be divided into two phases. In the first phase on November 21-30, 2011, three batches of expanded cut tobacco to the tune of 5,000 kilograms would be produced. In the second phase between December 15, 2011 and February 1, 2012, further test production would be conducted. After completion of the process of test production, the project of installing the cut tobacco expansion line would enter the stage of final appraisal for technical acceptance in March 2012. It was reported that China Tobacco Guangdong Industrial Corporation in neighboring Guangdong Province extended much support to Liuzhou Cigarette Factory in the installation, debugging and test of the cut tobacco expansion line, in terms of designing of functional requirement, choice of technology and equipment, determination of technological parameters, guarantee of raw materials supply, etc. The installation of the cut tobacco expansion line is expected to significantly ease shortage of supply of expanded cut tobacco for cigarette production by Liuzhou Cigarette Factory. The cigarette factory hopes to eventually realize local production of all expanded cut tobacco for its cigarette production. Enditem
