Qujing City Tobacco Company Completes Selection, Test of Leaf-Cutting Machinery

Qujing City Tobacco Company in southwest China's tobacco-producing Yunnan Province has recently completed the process of selecting and testing 10 types of economical and applicable machinery for leaf cutting in floating development of tobacco seedlings supplied by seven tobacco machinery manufacturers for China's tobacco industry. Conducted at the Luoxiong Town Tobacco Seedlings Development Base in Luoping County of Qujing City on October 8-10, the process of selection and test was specifically overseen by Qujing City Tobacco Company of Yunnan Provincial Tobacco Corporation and Yunnan Provincial Tobacco Agriculture Science Research Institute under arrangement and planning by China National Tobacco Corporation. In conducting the selection and test, the scientists and technicians designated to fulfill the task of selection and test earnestly tested the leaf cutting efficiency and quality of all the 10 types of machinery under careful organization, appraising the neatness of leaf cutting, the volume of leftover bits, the rate of seedlings missed out in leaf cutting, and the risk of spread of plant viral diseases. They also conducted comprehensive evaluation of the cost of leaf tobacco in tobacco seedlings development, the rate of failure in the application of the machinery the degree of difficulty in the operation, repair and maintenance of the machinery, mutual adaptation of spare parts and components, etc. Consequently, the scientists and technicians successfully completed the work of selecting and testing the leaf cutting machinery in tobacco seedlings floating development for China's tobacco industry, providing scientific reference data for realizing mechanization in tobacco seedlings development, reducing the cost of both labor and raw materials and lowering the labor intensity in tobacco seedlings development.
