C.Gars Looks Set to Open in the US

The managing director of C.Gars Ltd, Mitchell Orchant, yesterday hinted that his next venture might entail opening a retail store in the US. "My specialist cigars business has prospered beyond anything I could have imagined when I first started my business 14 years ago - from one small online website to eleven specialist retail shops in the UK, plus shops in Germany and Ireland," Orchant said. "This huge success is partly the result of the UK's smoking ban. My core of dedicated cigar loving customers decided that if they were being forced to smoke at home rather than in the office then they'd treat themselves to the finest Havanas and smokers' accessories money can buy. "Like them, I can't work without the constant support of a fine lit Havana, so I built an office and walk-in humidor in my house just before the UK's smoking ban. "I love working at my north London office but it's a bit of a madhouse with seven or eight sales support personnel, most of them young women, all talking at once, and usually loudly, phones ringing, doorbells buzzing, computers binging and bonging. 'That's why I work from home whenever possible for then I can enjoy a quiet uninterrupted smoke. It helps me contemplate where my rapidly growing tobacco business is heading next - almost certainly to the opening of my first retail outlet in the USA." Right now, however, the C.Gars team is busy getting ready for its Winter Cigars Auction on November 28 at Boisdale Canary Wharf, London, UK. Enditem
